Belfast International Airport is located in Aldergrove, near Nutts Corner on the eastern shore of Lough Neagh—the driving time to Belfast is between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on traffic. Though it is a bit far out from the city center, Belfast will satisfy most travelers needs, being a fairly modern, spacious, and generally well laid-out airport. Flights service Europe, the U.K., the United States, and Cuba. Connemara Regional Airport can be found near the town of Inverin, about 17 miles west of Galway City as you can see in the Map of Ireland airports. This is a small airfield with very basic passenger facilities. You can get to Connemara Regional Airport by road via the R336, and there also is a shuttle bus from the Kinlay House Hotel in Galway City. The only destinations served from Connemara Regional Airport are the islands of Inis Mór, Inis Meáin, and Inis Óirr.
Cork Airport is located on the Kinsale Road and has been extensively upgraded with a state-of-the-art terminal building and a vastly improved infrastructure. There are now great passenger facilities, including reasonable comforts in the shopping and dining areas. The airport is located five miles outside Cork City. Donegal Airport is located at Kincasslagh and boasts a small, modern terminal building in the middle of nowhere—it is basic but sufficient. From Letterkenny, take the N56 heading in the direction of Dunfanaghy/Dungloe and follow signposts for Gweedore as its shown in the Map of Ireland airports. Destinations served from Donegal Airport are Dublin and Glasgow. Dublin Airport is located in North County Dublin, near the suburb of Swords. Crowded at the best of times, it can be positively claustrophobic during peak travel hours. But the airport does have two modernized terminal buildings with good passenger facilities, including restaurants and shopping.
There are several smaller regional airports: George Best Belfast City Airport, City of Derry Airport, Galway Airport, Kerry Airport (Farranfore), Sligo Airport (Strandhill), Waterford Airport and Donegal Airport (Carrickfinn) as its mentioned in the Map of Ireland airports. Scheduled services from these regional points are in the main limited to flights travelling to other parts of Ireland and to Great Britain. Airlines based in Ireland include Aer Lingus (the former national airline of the Republic of Ireland), Ryanair, Aer Arann and CityJet. Services to the Aran Islands are operated from Aerfort na Minna (Connemara Regional Airport). Ireland national airline, Aer Lingus, provides air services from Belfast International, Cork, Dublin and Shannon to Europe, North Africa and North America. Cork, Dublin and Shannon airports are run by a State body, the DAA (Dublin Airport Authority).
